Very useful, Works as describes, Lot of space.
I bought these bags over a year ago and liked them so much that I bought two more. My only issue is that when I bought the second pair only one bag arrived. I emailed the company and they responded fast saying they would send bag #2. 2 weeks passed and nothing, I tried to reach out but the emails were unanswered and the ai bot was less than helpful. The phone number was disconnected too. In the end bag #2 came but honestly a company should make it easy to reach a human. These are the best panniers I have ever had so I would probably go through the ordering headache to get more in the future.
All,
I am generally pleased with the product. I did thorough market research and this pannier backpack checked most of the boxes for my needs: more volume (25l +), an easy to use latch mechanism, a backpack that actually looks like a backpack and not a pannier, good pockets and water bottle storage, ability to clip on other items as necessary, and most of all a laptop sleeve that protects my work laptop from moisture and impacts.
The major downside I’ve encountered is the fabric on the back side of the backpack. At first it was my fault for using this product on a rear rack that didnt provide enough clearance between the tire and the bag, so in the first few months, the bag got black scuff marks or even frays in the fabric from tire rubbing/friction. I have since purchased a rear rack can handle more weight and that flares out on the bottom to protect the bottom rear of my panniers. However, i still occasionally have a problem with rubbing or scuff marks.
I have since purchased vinyl cement and ballistic nylon fabric in hope that i can better protect the rear of this bag from future damage.
All in all, the bag is well designed, spacious, and meets all my needs. Only improvements would be to use more sturdy or damage and weather resistant material on thr parts of the bag most likely to be exposed to tires and fenders.
I also own your solo market 30L grocery pannier, however I purchased that one from Amazon in order to get it sooner. The rubbing/scuffing/burned damage is way more pronounced with the grocery bag than the backpack. As I purchased the grocery bag through a third party, I doubt i got a review or rating email, so I’d like to share that here as well. Ive owned both bags since Spring this year and have been commuting with both for most weekdays -around 1500 miles or 2400 km- with both these bags. I have the same review for both more or less: check all my needs boxes, easy to clip on and clip off, spacious, and look great on the commuting paths. However, both bags -and especially the grocery one- could use more premium/sturdier/damage-resistant fabric on the side facing the tires and fender. Also, the other fabric that could be improved is the mesh on the outside side pocket. I keep my id (attached to some keys i need for my office building) in this easily accessible pocket and there are already holes in the mesh. I totally understand that keys aren’t the best thing to keep
In this pocket, but the ease of access is why i use it (in that i dont have to zipper and clipping on sometimes feels too precarious). Id expect a product to last more than a few months of daily use before significant wear and tear. I dont know much about mesh fabric and the strength of different kinds, but there is some room for improvement on the mesh pockets as well.
As i mentioned above, I purchased some vinyl cement and ballistic nylon to repair the bags, but haven't yet had the time to trace out the panels on the bottom and rear and paste them on in order to prevent further damage. I want to try to fix it myself before waiting to purchase a different product or -hopefully- a new version of this product with stronger materials.
Cheers,
Charlie
